Visiting Scholars Program

Our Visiting Scholars develop publicly-accessible research projects that better articulate the harms and opportunities of networked communication and social media; grapple with questions about the legitimacy of who should address these harms and opportunities; test under-discussed ideas and develop new ones; prototype tools and protocols; develop policies enriched by attention to sociotechnical issues; and encourage accurate and accessible narratives about the harms and possibilities of social media.

RSM Assembly Fellowship

The Institute for Rebooting Social Media is looking to develop and demonstrate what a healthy information ecosystem could look like – and how to get there. To further this goal, the Institute is assembling an interdisciplinary cohort of professionals from across sectors – including designers, engineers, policy experts, advocates, and creators – who are building projects that help reimagine the digital social space to better support democratic governance.

If you have a powerful idea, project, or plan — or parts of one — for an intervention in this space, or if you’re looking to make a more direct impact in the public interest, the RSM Assembly Fellowship might be for you.

RSM Speaker Series

The RSM Speaker Series spotlights diverse work in the social media space. Since Fall 2023, we’ve invited academics, students, and industry professionals to share their research and insight on a range of topics–including mis/disinformation, content moderation, and the future of social media studies–with the Harvard community and beyond. The success of the RSM Speaker Series has paved the path for the Berkman Klein Center’s Speaker Series, which you can learn more about here.
